Overview

Day Outing to Tahuli Peak

Discover the wild spirit of the Western Ghats on a one-day trek designed for learning, connection, and growth.

Just 1.5 hours from Mumbai, tucked into the quiet folds of the Karjat mountain range, lies Tahuli Peak — a trail untouched by crowds, rich in natural drama and personal challenge. This 10-kilometre trek is designed not just for movement, but for meaning — guiding students and parents through dense forests, open plateaus, seasonal waterfalls, and wide valleys that become both playground and classroom.

Tahuli is raw, scenic, and moderately demanding — perfect for young adults ready to step into something real. Along the way, participants learn to read landscapes, explore the geology of the Western Ghats, and experience the cultural rhythms of the land. But more than that, they discover something in themselves — resilience, teamwork, leadership, presence.

This is a trek where your shoes may get muddy, your legs may ache, and your spirit will stretch — and that’s the point.

This day-long experience is led by certified mountaineers and youth facilitators who blend safety, storytelling, and structured reflection into every step. Whether it’s your first hike or your tenth, Tahuli will leave you a little stronger, a little wiser, and a lot more connected — to nature, to your child, and to yourself.

Schedule

One Day of Discovery, Movement & Meaning

6:00 AM – 8:30 AM | Departure & Scenic Drive to the Base

Participants report early morning and board the AC bus from Avalon Heights School. The journey winds through sleepy towns and into the foothills of the Karjat range. Children begin to disconnect from the city and tune into nature as the landscape shifts outside their windows.

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM | Arrival, Breakfast & Briefing

The group reaches the base village and heads to a local dhaba for a warm, simple breakfast. Once refreshed, facilitators conduct a quick gear check and introduce the trail — covering safety guidelines, hydration plans, and what to expect during the hike.

9:00 AM – 12:30 PM | Guided Trek to Tahuli Peak

The trek begins. Participants walk in small, supported groups through forested terrain, wide plateaus, hidden streams, and rocky inclines. Along the way, facilitators lead reflection stops, nature awareness pauses, and storytelling about the ecology and geology of the Western Ghats. This is where challenge meets curiosity — and both grow together.

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM | Packed Lunch in the Wild

After reaching the destination or a scenic rest point, the group settles in for lunch amidst open skies and mountain air. Children eat together, relax, share stories, and soak in the views they’ve earned.

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM | Descent & Trail Reflection

The group begins its descent. Facilitators continue to guide pacing, hydration, and morale. The physical effort of the hike gives way to quiet pride and reflection. Participants are encouraged to observe the trail differently on the way down — noticing what they missed earlier.

3:00 PM – 3:30 PM | Group Debrief & Closing Circle

At the base, everyone gathers for a short but meaningful reflection circle. Students share personal highlights, challenges faced, new things learned, or something about themselves they discovered on the trail.

4:00 PM – 5:30 PM | Departure & Return to School

The group boards the bus for the ride back to Avalon Heights. As the forest fades in the rearview mirror, students carry forward more than just physical tiredness — they return with new confidence, shared experiences, and the feeling of having earned something real.
