But this isn’t just about beauty. It’s about experiencing a raw slice of the Himalayas that feels surprisingly close yet completely untamed. Itinerary

Your journey begins with a short but scenic drive along the Solang Valley road, cutting through dense pine forests, meadows, and the thundering Beas River before arriving at Dhundi — a small outpost tucked beneath the Pir Panjal peaks. From here, the trail gently ascends along the riverbank, weaving through birch groves, boulder-strewn fields, and lush alpine pastures frequented by Gujjar herders and flocks of sheep. As you climb higher, the landscape shifts — the forests thin out, replaced by sweeping glacial valleys and wide open skies. The walk to Luhali is relatively moderate but offers a generous introduction to the wild, wind-shaped terrain of this region. You’ll camp tonight on an elevated clearing overlooking cascading streams and granite cliffs — the perfect place to ease into the rhythm of the mountains.

Drive: 1 Hour
Trek Duration:
3–4 hours
Altitude Gain: ~800m (drive) + 500 m

Today’s trail brings you deeper into alpine territory, moving beyond the last touches of greenery and into rocky moraine country. The route to Lady Leg — a natural rise named for its resemblance to a bent knee — begins with a steady ascent over gravel trails, scree, and occasional snow patches, depending on the season. The views become grander by the hour: Shitidhar, Friendship Peak, and Ladakhi Peak loom ever closer, and the air turns sharper as you rise above the 3,500 m mark. Though relatively short, this stretch feels wild and unfiltered — offering both solitude and scale in equal measure. By noon, you’ll arrive at your campsite below Lady Leg, nestled beneath towering ridgelines and just above the Beas River’s glacial cradle. Expect cold winds, crystal-clear skies, and an unforgettable sunset in the heart of the high mountains.

Trek Duration: 3 hours
Altitude Gain: ~500 m

This is the soul of the trek — the walk to Beas Kund, a sacred glacial lake steeped in mythology and wilderness. You'll begin early, navigating a narrow trail that cuts across shifting moraines, frozen rivulets, and wide, snow-fed valleys. The lake — situated at the very base of towering peaks — appears like a sudden mirror between stone and ice, startling in its silence. It is here, legend says, that Sage Veda Vyasa meditated thousands of years ago, giving rise to the mighty Beas River. Spend time exploring the glacial basin, soaking in the high-altitude stillness, and gazing up at the dramatic backdrop of jagged snow walls that encircle the lake. After a quiet pause and some warm refreshments, you’ll retrace your steps to Lady Leg. The return walk is often reflective — the kind that settles into memory long after you’ve left the trail.

Trek Duration: 3–4 hours
Altitude Gain/Loss: +200 m and -200 m

The final descent is a slow farewell to the high Himalayas. As you leave Lady Leg, the terrain becomes gentler, the air richer, and the sound of the Beas River stronger. It’s a relatively short and easy descent through familiar paths — past moraine fields, glacial streams, and open alpine valleys that now feel more intimate after your time above them. By mid-morning, you’ll reach Dhundi, where your vehicle will be waiting. The return drive to Manali brings you full circle — from snowline to forest edge, from silence to bustle. But something shifts as you re-enter town: a quiet knowing, a story earned, and a glimpse into the raw beauty of the Pir Panjal you’ve just walked through.

Trek Duration: 2–3 hours
Altitude Loss: ~800 m (trek) + ~800 m (drive)
